Long-Distance Rates

Charges for long-distance calls are determined according to:

  • Origin and destination;
  • Length;
  • Type: station-to-station or person-to-person;
  • Category: operator-assisted or direct distance dialling;
  • Time of day at call origin, with or without collect calling (noon = 12:00/ midnight = 0:00);
  • Calendar day at call origin.
  • Télébec’s rates apply to any call billed by Télébec whose origin or destination is on its territory.

Example: regular call or collect call or billed to Calling Card, with origin or destination on Télébec territory

This means any regular call, collect call or call billed to a Calling Card made or received on Télébecterritory is billed at Télébec rates and is included in the long-distance rate plan you have chosen (including off-peak reductions).

For calls billed by Télébec when both origin and destination are not on Télébec territory (e.g. you are in Toronto, calling Vancouver, and you charge the call to your business account), the rate in effect at the point of origin applies. Also any off-peak reduction will have already been included in the charge appearing in your account.

A call billed to a calling card is included in your long-distance rate plan if it is made station-to station and its origin or destination is in Canada.

Calls originating or arriving in Canada outside of Télébec territory may still be eligible for long-distance rate reductions; however the phone service provider at the call’s point of origin determines the applicable rate.

Excluded Calls

Generally, long-distance rate plans exclude the following types of calls:

  • Calls originating from a TTT hotel circuit (except when billed to a Calling Card)
  • Incomplete calls
  • 900 calls
  • Local calls from a public payphone
  • Calls to directory assistance
  • Conference calls
